"If I can do this, I can do anything"

Lauren recently discovered Disabled Sports USA which operates out of Alpine Meadows. We applied to be lesson assistants and were thrilled when we were chosen. This weekend we had our volunteer orientation and on-hill training. The organization does amazing work and has a group of diverse, well- educated, and dedicated individuals that make it all possible. After orientation we attended the winter kick-off carnival and ate, drank and played games with our new colleagues leaving us both feeling lucky to be a part of such a great group. Sunday had its challenges as it was seriously howling up on the mountain, I had icicles dangling from rogue strands of hair, and could not feel my hands, toes or lips. Despite the conditions morale was high and the group continued to have fun. I know there is only more fun to be had; I had just better get as much of it in as I can in the month I have left!
